With reference to the 3rd paragraph of your

letter of the 3rd November last, No:31905/1900, in which

a request is made that the sum of $10,465.07 may be paid

over to the Government of Hong Kong on account of land

handed over to the War Department, I am directed by the

Secretary of State for War to acquaint you for the infor-

mation of Mr.Secretary Chamberlain that it is understood

that reference is made to the balance standing in favour

of the Colony in the Colonial Military Lands Account.
